An all-new heritage leather and re-interpretation of Barenia calfskin. This Hermès-exclusive grain is associated with 24, Faubourg Saint-Honore.

First appeared in the collections: 2016

Appearance: A minuscule printed grain which reproduces a drum grain

Feel: Waxy; velvety

Hand: Relaxed and generous; more supple than Barenia

Change over time: Acquires a patina like Barenia; darkens in the most exposed areas

The story behind

Designed in 1923 for top drivers and long-distance travelers, this globe-trotting bag slips easily into any trunk. The zip fastener, brought back from America by Émile Hermès at the end of the 1910s, give it its legendary round-angled shape, and allow for quick access to the content. The Bolide bag comes in a travel bag and many-sized handbags.

    It fits a phone, a wallet, sunglasses and a small notebook and then it is done. The interior back pocket is where my cards live. Zip closure is what sold me over the open top bags, I take the metro daily and I want things shut.

    Barenia Faubourg in ebene is the reason I bought it. That leather has a depth that photographs badly and looks incredible in person.

    Strap runs 40 to 65 cm which is short. At 5 foot 8 the longest setting is a high across the body wear, more of a chest bag than a hip bag.
