An all-new heritage leather and re-interpretation of Barenia calfskin. This Hermès-exclusive grain is associated with 24, Faubourg Saint-Honore.

First appeared in the collections: 2016

Appearance: A minuscule printed grain which reproduces a drum grain

Feel: Waxy; velvety

Hand: Relaxed and generous; more supple than Barenia

Change over time: Acquires a patina like Barenia; darkens in the most exposed areas

The story behind

Designed in 1923 for top drivers and long-distance travelers, this globe-trotting bag slips easily into any trunk. The zip fastener, brought back from America by Émile Hermès at the end of the 1910s, give it its legendary round-angled shape, and allow for quick access to the content. The Bolide bag comes in a travel bag and many-sized handbags.

    Bought it for a walking holiday because I wanted something small, zipped and across the body that did not look like a hiking bag. It was perfect for that and it has stayed in rotation since. The 9 cm depth is more generous than the ebene one appears in photos, though they are the same size.
