These are the most precious and exclusive exotic leathers used by Hermès. Porosus crocodile and Niloticus crocodile feature symmetrical scales and come in shiny (Lisse) or matte finishes. Alligator comes from the Mississippi river and is renowned for its larger scales and intense color depth.

The story behind

A chance encounter on a flight between Paris and London in 1984 sparked the creation of the Birkin. Actress Jane Birkin complained to Jean-Louis Dumas, the Executive Chairman of Hermès, about her struggle to find a bag suitable for her needs as a young mother. Dumas immediately sketched a spacious, rectangular holdall with a burnished flap and saddle stitching, and the Birkin was born.

Matte alligator in gold is warm and dry looking, none of that wet shine. With gold hardware it is all one temperature.

The 20 sellier in alligator is a jewel of a thing. 20 by 16 by 11 so it holds a phone, a small pouch and keys and that is really it. Cites certificate...More
The 20 sellier in alligator is a jewel of a thing. 20 by 16 by 11 so it holds a phone, a small pouch and keys and that is really it. Cites certificate and the receipt in the box. I have carried it to two dinners and I check the corners every time I set it down, which is not relaxing but there we are.
