The story behind

A chance encounter on a flight between Paris and London in 1984 sparked the creation of the Birkin. Actress Jane Birkin complained to Jean-Louis Dumas, the Executive Chairman of Hermès, about her struggle to find a bag suitable for her needs as a young mother. Dumas immediately sketched a spacious, rectangular holdall with a burnished flap and saddle stitching, and the Birkin was born.

I went back and forth for weeks because a yellow exotic 25 is not a subtle purchase. Then I saw it in daylight and stopped arguing with myself. The matte finish takes the shine off so it's bright without being flashy, and palladium keeps it cool rather than gold warm.

Not sure I'd buy another exotic this bold. Jaune bourgeon in matte alligator is a lot of commitment to barely take out of the box.

Jaune Bourgeon is a bright spring yellow and on matte alligator it looks less shiny and more like painted leather. Very unusual.
