These are the most precious and exclusive exotic leathers used by Hermès. Porosus crocodile and Niloticus crocodile feature symmetrical scales and come in shiny (Lisse) or matte finishes. Alligator comes from the Mississippi river and is renowned for its larger scales and intense color depth.

The story behind

A chance encounter on a flight between Paris and London in 1984 sparked the creation of the Birkin. Actress Jane Birkin complained to Jean-Louis Dumas, the Executive Chairman of Hermès, about her struggle to find a bag suitable for her needs as a young mother. Dumas immediately sketched a spacious, rectangular holdall with a burnished flap and saddle stitching, and the Birkin was born.

Bleu saphir with blue marine is a subtle tone on tone thing until the light hits the matte alligator and then you see the difference.

Full paperwork including the cites certificate and the rain cover. For a 2018 exotic that's the difference between wanting it and buying it. My only note is a slightly dry patch on the matte alligator near the base that I've been told is normal and I've decided to believe them.

Bought secondhand from a consignment shop and I was nervous about a 2018 exotic. Everything was there and the corners were sharper than mine would be. Novillo at 30 wide takes a laptop sleeve if you angle it, which was the whole point for me.
