Named after the African country, reflecting the "Africa" theme of the year it was created (1997). Togo is a grained leather made from baby calf skin. It is extremely popular due to its scratch resistance and ability to hold its shape.

The story behind

A chance encounter on a flight between Paris and London in 1984 sparked the creation of the Birkin. Actress Jane Birkin complained to Jean-Louis Dumas, the Executive Chairman of Hermès, about her struggle to find a bag suitable for her needs as a young mother. Dumas immediately sketched a spacious, rectangular holdall with a burnished flap and saddle stitching, and the Birkin was born.

30 with 15 of depth is a working bag, and I do use it for work despite the alligator, which my friends think is unhinged.

Only came with the lock set and felt so no box and no dust bag, which for a Touch I thought was a bit thin. Bag itself is perfect, the Togo has not so...More
