This leather was developed to complement the range of grained leathers by offering a satiny finish and a wide palette of colors, including very bright shades.

The story behind

Designed in 1923 by Emil-Maurice Hermès for his wife, the Bolide was the first bag to feature a zip closure, inspired by the zips he saw on car hoods during a trip to Canada. It was designed as a travel bag for the modern era.

    Bleu de malte is a dark inky blue that goes almost black in the evening. At 45 wide it's a lot of that colour in one place.

    The baseball stitching detail is what makes this one different and it's subtle enough that most people just see a big blue Bolide.

Wore it to work every day for a month straight to see if I'd get bored. I didn't. 25 with the strap across the body is enough for a phone, cards, keys and a small notebook, and I carry a tote for the laptop. Palladium does show fingerprints but that's the only thing I'd change.
