Named after Jonathan Swift, author of Gulliver's Travels, to highlight its resemblance to the now-discontinued Gulliver calfskin. Swift is a fine, semi-smooth leather that absorbs dye beautifully, resulting in radiant colors.

Appearance: Almost smooth with a delicate shine; lightly marked grain

Feel: Soft, tender, and velvety

The story behind

Designed in 1923 by Emil-Maurice Hermès for his wife, the Bolide was the first bag to feature a zip closure, inspired by the zips he saw on car hoods during a trip to Canada. It was designed as a travel bag for the modern era.

Took it to Lisbon as my only wallet for a week. Cards, a few notes folded, coins in the zipped purse, done. Came home and the Epsom still looked new apart from the paille panel which had picked up some grey.
