Ostrich skin is a precious leather identifiable by its follicles, from which feathers grow. Hermès flattens these follicles and triples the skin to create a material with a unique, two-tone appearance.

The story behind

Launched in 1967, the Constance bag - named after the creator’s daughter - gives its shape to the line of wallets revealing the ingenious H-shaped clasp: the central bar lifts up and releases the flap to open it. The Elan is longer and flatter than the regular Constance, 23 by 13 and only 3 deep, so it's a phone and cards bag and nothing more.
