Unlike other leathers, Epsom is an embossed leather, meaning its grain is pressed into the leather rather than being a natural feature. This gives it a rigid structure, making it highly scratch-resistant and easy to clean.

The story behind

Launched in 1967, the Constance bag - named after the creator’s daughter - gives its shape to the line of wallets revealing the ingenious H-shaped clasp: the central bar lifts up and releases the flap to open it. Perfect day-to-day companions, depending on their design, these wallets with contemporary features can be slipped into your bag, carried on the shoulder or worn as a belt.

    Epsom keeps it rigid so at 4.5cm deep it doesn't bulge no matter what I stuff in. Which is not much. Phone and cards.

Bought it for my fortieth after wanting one for about a decade. It's a 2016 so it has lived a little, the corners show it, but honestly that made me less precious about actually using it. The gold hardware has gone slightly warm and I prefer it that way.

Only the dust bag, lock set and receipt came with it, no box and no rain cover, which on something with ostrich in it I would have expected. I store it stuffed and upright and away from the window because I do not want the tabac fading unevenly.
