These are the most precious and exclusive exotic leathers used by Hermès. Porosus crocodile and Niloticus crocodile feature symmetrical scales and come in shiny (Lisse) or matte finishes. Alligator comes from the Mississippi river and is renowned for its larger scales and intense color depth.

Appearance: Structured scales, either highly glazed or matte

Feel: Structured and textured

Change over time: Develops a deep patina; shiny finish softens, while matte finish acquires a subtle glow

The story behind

Created in the 1930s, the Kelly bag was named in 1956 when Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco unveiled it to the world. Its shape and iconic details have since been adapted and redesigned to create small leather goods. Straps, claps, padlocks, leather bells and keys enhance wallets, coin purses or pouches that can be worn in many different ways.

    I've had shiny croc before and this one has the tightest, most even scales of any of them. Gold hardware on noir is a very traditional pairing and it looks right on a 25. Cites certificate included, which matters if you ever travel with it. I do not take it out in bad weather, full stop.
