These are the most precious and exclusive exotic leathers used by Hermès. Porosus crocodile and Niloticus crocodile feature symmetrical scales and come in shiny (Lisse) or matte finishes. Alligator comes from the Mississippi river and is renowned for its larger scales and intense color depth.

Appearance: Structured scales, either highly glazed or matte

Feel: Structured and textured

Hand: Rigid

Change over time: Develops a deep patina; shiny finish softens, while matte finish acquires a subtle glow

The story behind

Originally created in the 1930s by Robert Dumas as a 'Sac à dépêches', the bag achieved legendary status in 1956 when Grace Kelly, the Princess of Monaco, used it to shield her pregnancy from paparazzi. Hermès subsequently renamed the bag the 'Kelly'.

35 came back around and I'm glad because I always found 30 slightly mean for what I carry. This takes my laptop, a folder, a jumper and lunch and still shuts. Togo in gold is the classic and it hides everything. Heavy when full, so I don't fill it every day.
