This leather is the grained version of Evercalf calfskin. Its grain is obtained by drumming, which gives it a regular appearance with very fine markings.

The story behind

Originally created in the 1930s by Robert Dumas as a 'Sac à dépêches', the bag achieved legendary status in 1956 when Grace Kelly, the Princess of Monaco, used it to shield her pregnancy from paparazzi. Hermès subsequently renamed the bag the 'Kelly'.
