Named after Jonathan Swift, author of Gulliver's Travels, to highlight its resemblance to the now-discontinued Gulliver calfskin. Swift is a fine, semi-smooth leather that absorbs dye beautifully, resulting in radiant colors.

The story behind

Originally created in the 1930s by Robert Dumas as a 'Sac à dépêches', the bag achieved legendary status in 1956 when Grace Kelly, the Princess of Monaco, used it to shield her pregnancy from paparazzi. Hermès subsequently renamed the bag the 'Kelly'.

    Swift is soft so the whole bag slumps when it is not full. Some people want structure, I like this better.

    The Lakis has the pockets on the outside which is why I wanted it. Craie Swift makes it look softer than a standard Kelly.

    32 by 21.5 by 12.5 so it is big, and the outside pockets mean my phone and card are never buried at the bottom. Swift in craie is beautiful and terrifying. Eight months in and there are two grey marks on the back that I assume are denim. I have decided to live with them.

32 is big. I use it for work and a laptop plus a folder both fit with 11.5 of depth. Heavy when loaded, so the strap gets used more than the handle. Togo takes the abuse fine, the Swift bits I am more careful with.
