Named after Jonathan Swift, author of Gulliver's Travels, to highlight its resemblance to the now-discontinued Gulliver calfskin. Swift is a fine, semi-smooth leather that absorbs dye beautifully, resulting in radiant colors.

The story behind

Originally created in the 1930s by Robert Dumas as a 'Sac à dépêches', the bag achieved legendary status in 1956 when Grace Kelly, the Princess of Monaco, used it to shield her pregnancy from paparazzi. Hermès subsequently renamed the bag the 'Kelly'.

    It arrived with the box, the felt and a copy of the receipt. I use it for evenings and the odd lunch and it has never felt fussy despite being a small dressy bag. Carrying it by hand is part of the appeal for me, I like having something to hold.

Wore it to work every day for a month straight to see if I'd get bored. I didn't. 25 with the strap across the body is enough for a phone, cards, keys and a small notebook, and I carry a tote for the laptop. Palladium does show fingerprints but that's the only thing I'd change.
