Named after Jonathan Swift, author of Gulliver's Travels, to highlight its resemblance to the now-discontinued Gulliver calfskin. Swift is a fine, semi-smooth leather that absorbs dye beautifully, resulting in radiant colors.

The story behind

Originally created in the 1930s by Robert Dumas as a 'Sac à dépêches', the bag achieved legendary status in 1956 when Grace Kelly, the Princess of Monaco, used it to shield her pregnancy from paparazzi. Hermès subsequently renamed the bag the 'Kelly'.

    Wore this to a wedding in May and it was the correct decision. Swift takes the green so deeply it almost glows under the reception lights. It's a clutch so it's hand carry only, and after three hours of holding it I was slightly over it, but I'd do it again.

A friend of mine has the same size in Clemence and hers slouches beautifully. Mine doesn't and won't, which was the point. I wanted something that holds a shape in the office. Downside is Epsom in a dark red does look a bit plasticky under fluorescent lights.
