Named after Jonathan Swift, author of Gulliver's Travels, to highlight its resemblance to the now-discontinued Gulliver calfskin. Swift is a fine, semi-smooth leather that absorbs dye beautifully, resulting in radiant colors.

The story behind
A chance encounter on a flight between Paris and London in 1984 sparked the creation of the Birkin. Actress Jane Birkin complained to Jean-Louis Dumas, the Executive Chairman of Hermès, about her struggle to find a bag suitable for her needs as a young mother. Dumas immediately sketched a spacious, rectangular holdall with a burnished flap and saddle stitching, and the Birkin was born.

It came with the rain cover which honestly is the accessory I use most, because Swift and weather do not mix. 25 by 20 by 13 is plenty for a work day....More

Evercolor in a 28 is lighter than Togo and I notice it by the end of the day. The sesame interior makes it much easier to find things than a dark lining. Only the dustbag, lock set and strap came with mine, no box, which knocked a little off the unboxing.
