The story behind

Designed in 1923 by Emil-Maurice Hermès for his wife, the Bolide was the first bag to feature a zip closure, inspired by the zips he saw on car hoods during a trip to Canada. It was designed as a travel bag for the modern era.

I'd only ever seen permabrass in photos and thought it would look dull. It doesn't, it looks softly aged, and against craie it's much less harsh than palladium would be. The mini fits my phone and a card case and nothing else, so I've become a person who carries a separate pouch.
