Named after Jonathan Swift, author of Gulliver's Travels, to highlight its resemblance to the now-discontinued Gulliver calfskin. Swift is a fine, semi-smooth leather that absorbs dye beautifully, resulting in radiant colors.

The story behind

Created in the 1930s, the Kelly bag was named in 1956 when Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco unveiled it to the world. Its shape and iconic details have since been adapted and redesigned to create small leather goods. Straps, claps, padlocks, leather bells and keys enhance wallets, coin purses or pouches that can be worn in many different ways.

32 is a big Kelly and the printed canvas makes it feel less formal, so I use it on weekends rather than for work.

The Cavalcadour print on the Toile de Camp is the whole reason to own this. It is a harness design and up close there is a lot going on, but from across a room it just reads as a patterned black Kelly. It came with the lock set, strap, rain cover and felt but no box.

The Swift corners are the weak point. Mine have rubbed slightly at the base and canvas is not the easiest thing to clean.
