Named after Jonathan Swift, author of Gulliver's Travels, to highlight its resemblance to the now-discontinued Gulliver calfskin. Swift is a fine, semi-smooth leather that absorbs dye beautifully, resulting in radiant colors.

Appearance: Almost smooth with a delicate shine; lightly marked grain

Feel: Soft, tender, and velvety

Hand: Supple and yielding

Change over time: Becomes even more supple

The story behind

Designed in 1978 by Evelyne Bertrand, then head of the Hermès equestrian department, the bag was originally created to carry horse grooming tools. The perforated 'H' logo was designed to allow the tools to dry quickly.
