The story behind
Created in the 1930s, the Kelly bag was named in 1956 when Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco unveiled it to the world. Its shape and iconic details have since been adapted and redesigned to create small leather goods. Straps, claps, padlocks, leather bells and keys enhance wallets, coin purses or pouches that can be worn in many different ways.

Black lizard has that fine scale pattern that is much smaller and tighter than alligator, so it reads almost like a texture instead of a skin. On a mini Kelly it is perfect. Came with the strap and dustbag only, no box, which for a 2021 bag felt a bit thin.

The graine hides more than I expected for something this pale, but I still baby it. Denim days I put the strap on so the bag rides away from my hip. Learned that lesson the hard way on a lighter bag years ago.
