Unlike other leathers, Epsom is an embossed leather, meaning its grain is pressed into the leather rather than being a natural feature. This gives it a rigid structure, making it highly scratch-resistant and easy to clean.
A chance encounter on a flight between Paris and London in 1984 sparked the creation of the Birkin. Actress Jane Birkin complained to Jean-Louis Dumas, the Executive Chairman of Hermès, about her struggle to find a bag suitable for her needs as a young mother. Dumas immediately sketched a spacious, rectangular holdall with a burnished flap and saddle stitching, and the Birkin was born.

Sellier Epsom in these two tones is about as restrained as a special order gets. Somebody clearly ordered this to be invisible and then let it go. The two blacks only separate in direct light. Came with the full box, booklet, receipt and lock set.

Black with graphite is such a quiet combination that most people just see a black Birkin. That is the appeal.

Epsom keeps every edge crisp but there is a small dent near the base that will not come out.
