The story behind

A chance encounter on a flight between Paris and London in 1984 sparked the creation of the Birkin. Actress Jane Birkin complained to Jean-Louis Dumas, the Executive Chairman of Hermès, about her struggle to find a bag suitable for her needs as a young mother. Dumas immediately sketched a spacious, rectangular holdall with a burnished flap and saddle stitching, and the Birkin was born.

The 30 with 15 of depth is my travel bag. Laptop, charger, book, snacks, all in. Epsom holds the shape so nothing tips over inside. Only the dust bag and lock set came with mine, no box, which I would have liked for something this specific.

Brushed gold is softer than regular gold. Less shiny, more antique looking, and on a special order that makes sense.
