This leather, the result of an intensive drumming process that brings out its natural features, owes its name to the theme of the year of its creation: Africa. It is named after an African country.

First appeared in the collections: 1997

Appearance: Matt; round and irregular grain; veins and wrinkles often visible and very pronounced

The story behind

Created in the 1930s, the Kelly bag was named in 1956 when Princess Grace Kelly of Monaco unveiled it to the world. Its shape and iconic details have since been adapted and redesigned to create small leather goods. Straps, claps, padlocks, leather bells and keys enhance wallets, coin purses or pouches that can be worn in many different ways.

    My mother in law spotted the rotating hardware across a restaurant and asked if it was a Kelly. Sort of, I said. Then spent the rest of dinner explaining. Poussière does not photograph well by the way, it looks flat online and much softer in person.
