My mother in law gave me this for my fortieth and she has never once got a gift right before. It was in the orange box with the ribbon and everything and I actually teared up a bit. The wool smells faintly of nothing which is oddly reassuring, and the gold has warmed up nicely against the black.

Fingerprints show less than on palladium in my experience, though the gold does scuff at the edges if you are rough with it.
